Are we facing a Battle Today

2 Chronicles 20: 15 & 17
“Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s ... You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”

This scripture here is a promise we can hold on to when going through difficult circumstances that seem out of our control and overwhelming. There are some battles that we simply can’t fight – and shouldn’t fight in our own strength. Sometimes God tells us to take our positions, stand still and see His deliverance. Sometimes we need to take our hands off, stand back and let God fight for us.

We needn’t fear what comes against us, but to stand firm in our faith. God knows the whole situation. Though we feel overwhelmed when we look at our circumstances, the Lord sees the whole picture and sees the way out for us. We need to let God have control and fight the battle we’re facing. He has promised that He is with us – and that He will bring us through.
If we are facing a battle today that seems overwhelming, give it over to God and let Him fight it for us. He will work it all out, and make a-way where it seems there is no way.

Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

Sharon,
That was great you are so right whether we fight or we stand we need to follow the Lord. I have been doing a lot of reading in Isaiah lately and have found I really like a lot of that book.
Have a great day.

Sharon,
What an awesome God we serve...what marvelous promises...to know that when we are overwhelmed, outnumbered, that we don't have to turn and run, we certainly don't have to surrender to the enemy, as Lynn said we are to follow God's direction either into the battle knowing that He is there with us...or standing firm knowing He is there with us...
Great Post!!
Be Blessed,
In His Love,
Debrah

Hi Sharon,
I also liked your slide show!
I think Isaiah is so good. I've had such great times in that book.
It's sometimes hard to tell when to leave hands off, and just let God do the battle. I'm pretty much a wimp though, and let Him go before me. (I hope!)
Debra
PS Thanks for the post!

Amen! I have a song on my blog play list called, The Battle Is Not Yours, sung by Yolanda Adams. I play it every day. I battle chronic illnesses on a daily basis... some days I cry out to God and ask him to fight this battle for me... then the Lord replies... The battle is not yours.. it's mine! I have to remember that is God's timing, the battle is already won!! Praise the Lord! Thank you.

I needed to hear this. I don't think I would ever tire of hearing the encouragement to continue to give my battle to God. I know all that you wrote in your paragraph to be true but oh how it does the heart and soul good to hear it from another and to hear it over and over. I get so weary wondering what God will do to fight this battle and what the "winning" will be. I DO believe He knows best and is in control yet it's so hard when our heart feels, wants, breaks, yearns, weeps, longs.

Thanks Sharon.

Luvya,
Paula

I am currently in the process of taking my hands off, standing back, and watching God work. Letting go is really hard, especially for a person like me who likes to be in control of her circumstances. But, God IS working behind the scenes and I am trusting Him for a wonderful blessing!
I appreciate all your wise words!
Blessings,
Starr
