Drifting ??

The Christian life is not always an easy road. Sometimes we get off track. We are to encourage our sisters and brothers in Christ daily so that no one turns away from the living God. Have you been drifting or know someone that maybe in this situation? Just like the movie Cast-away, The ball "Wilson" as it drifts away and we are on the raft, do we drift off like the ball or do we stay on the raft, and stay focused on God. Sin is like when Wilson was drifting away from the raft when we notice the things that we use to do are drifting away we have a tendency to want to leave our secure raft and swim after it. When in all actuality we need to just let it go.

We should examine our faith-life regularly. Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
2 Corinthians 13:5

If you find yourself drifting away, turn back immediately. See to it, sisters, and brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
Hebrews 3:12-13

We should come to God daily for forgiveness and cleansing. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
Revelation 22:14

Continue daily seeking the Lord with your whole heart. And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
I Chronicles 28:9

Stay in the Word of God; Keep studying and learning daily. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.
Proverbs 4:13

Stay in fellowship often with other believers. You can’t make it alone as a Christian. We need the strength and prayers of other believers. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:25

Stand firm in your faith. Expect difficult times in your Christian life. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matthew 10:22

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1

Persevere~~ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Timothy 4:15-17

Run the race to win. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only ONE gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training ... We do it to get a crown that will last forever.
1 Corinthians 9: 24-25

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness...
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Remind yourself of what God has done for you in the past. Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
Hebrews 10: 32, 35-39

We are to live our lives as if tomorrow may not come. Because we do not know what tomorrow may bring.

Tom Hanks later said that he had control over nothing. Now Isn't that the truth?
It reminded me of a person who lets go of there own efforts and puts there faith in Jesus Christ.

We must pay greater attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.
Hebrews 2:1

Even as we drift, God calls to us to return.

P.S. Pecan is doing great more pictures are coming~~~~~He is soooo cute!

This is great, Sharon. I loved that movie and never made the connection like that-but it's true...And how he hated to see Wilson go!! I don't want sin to ever control me like that. I'm glad we have The Word to measure ourselves against, and to help reel us in when we go too far.
Love, Debra
P.S. I can't wait to see your little Pecan!

Sharon, I just want to know when you are going to be ordained. You have all the qualities of a minister of the gospel. Thanks for reminding me to spend time in God's Word.

Please pray for our niece. She is not sleeping and hasn't going on two weeks. Her father-in-law is in the hospital now. He has a very bad heart. He is a minister and is in his 70's and just recently gave up the ministry. Sunday when we got back to the church he told me he was nauseated and that's a symptom of a possible heart attack. The night before they thought they would have to call 911 his heart rate was high.
That family really needs prayer.
Thanks, friend,
AliceE.

Great Post! We do need to stay focused on God and let our sinful ways be purged over time. I'm in this process with my own heart in the area of letting go of past hurts. This was important for me to read today. :)

You had my complete attention when I saw Wilson's face. I love when God's ways are applied to movies that we have all seen. It is so tangible and makes God's points easier to grasp for so many people.

I will be back later today to share this with my husband. He will love it.

And I needed to hear these words...I very much feel adrift...Not from God, but from the church situation. After going through my travels, followed by back surgery and recovery, I have seen my world turned upside down. Much like Tom Hank's character, I have been stripped from my "normal" life, so I am having a bit of difficulty in finding my place again. Like he said, I have been made totally aware that I have control over nothing.

I am such a visual learner, so thank you for this visual, friend. It is so encouraging to me.

I'll be back later with Shannon.

God Bless,
Amy:)

P.S. Looking forward to your picture updates.:)
