Callous~~Hardened Heart

I started back in working out, I felt it was time for me to
begin my exercise program again, now that I have healed from my surgery.
I was so enthusiastic as I laced my shoes and took off ready to conqueror.
That was, unfortunately, until I began to experience some discomfort on one
my feeties.
Well, no matter, I pressed onward with my stepping walk, enjoying the
book I was reading, trust me when I tell you it is possible to read and work
out on a machine. Before long, it really hurt and I was very aware that
something was wrong. Each step became painful and I started to slow down
as I was coming to the end of the time I had on the machine. It seems the
new walking shoes "$85.00" was not supporting my foot correctly, the ball
on the bottom of my foot felt like something was broken in there. Then because
I decided to hold my foot differently I got a blister, but I didn't want to quit. So I got me a bandaid and rolled up some toilet paper and put it on the raw spot.. No laughing at the toilet paper now, hahaha. I thought that should be plenty of protection, and went on my way. This added protection and it did help numb the pain, I couldn't feel it quite so much. I went to the drug store and bought those inserts, and it has comforted the spot on my foot, But the blister still kept bothering me a bit, and I noticed it was turning hard and callused. I realized the other day it stop hurting and I wasn't feeling anything from it. "Praise God".

Have you ever done something wrong, and had a terrible guilty conscious about it? Something which really hurts you in your heart, and you feel awful about it?
Perhaps telling a small lie- so as not to hurt a friend or cheating on a game/test, or one of a hundred different things we can do which are not in God's will. Each time we do the same act over again, it becomes less painful, just as
my blister had. As we repeat the wrong thought or action, we may look for
secular or even peer support to protect us against the hurt in our heart which is saying, "this is WRONG". That may buffer our conscious, and lead us to totally callousness.
When we feel nothing, and can repeatedly do wrong in God's eye, we have given ourselves what God calls a hardened heart. AMEN!!

It is just like that callous on my heal eventually you feel no regret or no sense of evil as you continue down your path of wrongdoing. It is a terrible thing when the heart becomes hardened, because then love can not penetrate it.
We must all be on guard to listen to that little voice within us that tells us when we do something wrong.
That voice is called The Holy Spirit, and He will help us stay out of the terrible rut of hard heartedness.

My brothers, take care that there is not by chance in any one of you an evil heart without belief, turning away from the living God:
But give comfort to one another every day as long as it is still Today; so that no one among you may be made hard by the deceit of sin:
For if we keep the substance of the faith which we had at the start, even till the end, we have a part with Christ;
As it is said, Today if you will let his voice come to your ears, be not hard of heart.

Please, also if you should need some toilet paper for a booboo like this please
put some neosporin or vaseline on, I think it hurt worst when I peeled the paper off.

Have a great week & be Blessed

So glad you are able to work out again. I have decided it is time in my physical health to begin that too! My body craves it!!!

Oh, I do not want a hardened heart. I pray the Lord searches me and knows me and reveals every offense way in me! Even when I may personally be blinded to the truth the Lord can open my eyes. I guess I just have to be willing...huh? And also love my Lord more than I love the sin I may be in? I have to hate it enough to desire to let the Lord go to work in my life!

Thanks for this post!

Love,
Nicole

Thanks for your visit to my blog and your sweet words. You have blessed me so much.

I am glad that you are healing from your surgery and that you are able to work out again. I need to, but can't seem to motivate myself to drive over to the park and walk...

Thanks for sharing your heart.

You are a hoot, woman. Your TP made me laugh, not at you but with you. Oh, weren't you laughing.

I love this analogy. How very true and precious. I am very conscious of not allowing my heart to be harden at all by the pain in my heart. I pray off any bitterness that may try to set in from my deep pain.

I know all too well what a hardened heart will do. What's worse is if a person isn't watching it will be a long time before it is realized a hardened heart has evolved. I do not believe my beloved knows his heart has been hardened toward God. That's scary and that's how satan works.

Thanks sweet one for this very important reminder for all of God's children. We are all at risk because the enemy is alway lurking trying to convince us it's okay and deceive us when the hardening may begin.
Love,
Paula

Ditto to what Paula said, Sharon.

This was a very thought provoking post, and "funny." (Toilet paper is always funny.) ;)

This has given me a lot to think on in my own life.

God Bless,
Amy:)

Sharon my friend -another thought provoking post that draws us to Our Lord and Savior...I pray that the holy spirit will penetrate all our hearts and minds and soften and heal all the hard dry scaly places (for self, loved ones and strangers)...

Great reminder, when we stop listening to that still small voice, we've pushed the limits too far and repentence will be only by a miracle of the Holy Spirit!

I recently posted about being numb to the sins that we see around us due to the media. This really works right in to the same idea, we must guard our hearts and minds and LISTEN to the Holy Spirit in us!

God Bless, and I hope your foot heals up just fine!

Hi Sharon!
Isn't it funny that we can ignore the pain we're in, as we are getting that hard old calloused heart? Our hearts really are decietful... Great post, and I loved the real life lesson-it brings it all home.
Love, Debra

Stopped by your blog today - noticed you were a fellow Floridian. You made a great analogy between sin and your callous. I have to pray consistently for God to show me where I've gone wrong - because frankly, sometimes I don't see it. My sin nature I 'spose. Glad I stopped by...

This was a really great analogy Sharon!

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I hope you're enjoying the contest. Your header is quite lovely btw. It stopped me when I "came in".

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, leaving a comment but more importantly this great message today. This is so true about the hardening of our hearts. It is so easy to do and before we know it, we are justifying our actions and the evil becomes the norm. I struggle to stay on track and do what is right because if I slip, I fall into that trap. Thanks so much for this message.

PS I need some new running shoes.

Hi friend,
Wise words from you, I love the verse that says..."Above all else, guard your heart."

Hope the feet are feeling better!
When your feet hurt...everything hurts!

Amen Sis..
I Remember praying for the Lord to melt my callous heart when I went to the altar to give my life to the Lord. Living with a hardened heart is life filled with anger, unforgiveness and leaves one feeling so defeated each day. but oh when the Lord sets us free and softens our heart with his Love and compassion and most of all his grace.

Praise God!!!
